Born out of necessity

The origin story of Floodgates goes back to 2008 when John Battagline began operating casual gaming websites. As Battagline’s sites grew over the years he found himself at the mercy of Google and predatory ad tech companies. As he searched for solutions that helped increase ad revenue he ran into challenge after challenge. If he were to stick solely with Google, he was limiting his earning potential. If he were to sign up with an ad tech company that takes 30% of total revenue, he was giving away the farm. Determined to find a solution to optimize revenue, control costs and keep visibility into his business, Battaline realized the only way to get his needs met was to build his own tool. That’s where Floodgates was born…
